not crushed, not abandoned, not destroyed
It's not enough to just survive in life. There has to be something more. Something worth living for. And that's what we, as a race, look for when we quest for meaning.
Only sometimes, at crucial moments that sneak up on you, you can't see what lies ahead. You have no idea what will become of your life and your striving, and you don't feel like moving to take the next step. You wish you could be a petulant child, and have someone to comfort you with ice cream or books or a small luxury. Except you're not a child anymore; you're an adult and you have responsibilities and you are supposed to be mature enough to handle this. So you think of what to do, and all that fills your mind are the blanks ahead, and your thoughts echoing like a shout into a crater lake that answers you only with yourself. The despair and desolation builds with each reverberation until you almost can't take it. It's all you can do for that moment to concentrate on breathing and praying for mercy. And eventually, that crisis abates, waiting for the next moment to pounce.
In those crisis moments, it's almost too much.
But it's that "almost" that does the trick. That "almost" is all you need to build your hope on. That "almost" means that you're not done yet, that whoever it is who's in control has decided that it's not yet time to stop.
So hold on to all you remember of comfort and peace and walk on, human.

Some verses to inspire:
"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." - 2 Corinthians 2:8-9.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." - John 10:10.
And there is rain to soothe.
